MEET OUR STAFF

Mike Radja
DIRECTOR
Mike's background and expertise extends from his expansive playing career from youth to pro. As a standout player at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) he garnered NCAA 1st Team All-American Status his senior season along with being named a First Team All Star in the highly touted Hockey East Conference. This set the table for Mike to play 9 years of professional hockey in the AHL, ECHL and overseas in Finland, Germany, Japan, Korea, and the United Kingdom. Mike has also represented USA Hockey on the international stage on 2 occasions.

It is my job to get to know them as players and more importantly as individuals and figure out how I can accelerate their growth and development. Mike Ratchuk
LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Coach Mike Ratchuk joined the SSH staff in 2022. Mike brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to SSH, and will train SSH players in our Spring Clinics, Roadrunners tournament teams, Summer Development Programs & Winter Organizational Training. Prior to joining SSH Mike spent time training hockey players at the Academy of Hockey run out of the Harbor Center in Buffalo, NY. Mikes primary role was skating and skill development for the Buffalo Jr. Sabres, working with players from Squirts to Midgets.
Mike played his college hockey at Michigan State University where he was a national Champion in 2007. Prior to MSU Mike spent 2 years at the NTDP representing our country! In 2006 Mike was drafted in the 2nd round by the Philadelphia Flyers. After college Coach Rat had a 10 year professional career with stops in the AHL, ECHL and Elite European Hockey.

Austin Block
LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Coach Austin Block joined the SSH staff in 2025. Austin’s playing and coaching experience is a great addition to SSH, where his expertise will be utilized year round in order to maximize the potential of all of our players. Prior to joining SSH, Austin spent time head coaching and director at multiple youth organizations nationally, while always implementing the necessity for individual player development. Austin utilizes all aspects of development, focusing specifically on shooting and skating tactics paired with situational cognitive hockey methods.
Austin played collegiate hockey at the University of New Hampshire for 4 years before playing a total of 8 professional seasons both domestically and overseas. Austin looks forward to building relationships with the SSH family and is excited to bring his passion and love of hockey to the Central NY area.

Trevor Bauer
LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Coach Trevor Bauer has been a member of the SSH Staff since the Summer of 2020. Trevor's role with SSH is skating and skill development, focusing primarily on skating technique and fundamental skill development. Trevor works in a wide array of SSH programs including the training of fall/winter organizations, and is a member of the Roadrunners Boys & Girls Staff.
Trevor played Division 3 Hockey at SUNY-Cortland and finished his playing career in 2002. Since then Trevor has been involved with coaching hockey at various levels from mites to college. Outside of Coaching Coach Trevor works at the William George Agency in Freeville, NY as the Director for Raise the Age Program.

MacRae McCarthy
LEAD INSTRUCTOR
Coach MacRae McCarthy has been a member of the SSH Staff since 2020. MacRae has spent a majority of her time with SSH working in our Summer Development Programs and on the staff of the Girl's Roadrunners Spring Program.
MacRae played Division 1 Hockey at St. Michaels College in Colechester Vermont. Prior to attending St Mike's Macrae played in Central New York for TGHA (Tompkins Girls Hockey Association), Syracuse Nationals & Ithaca High School. Outside of coaching MacRae can be found cruising the friendly skys as she trains and puts in the hours towards becoming a pilot.

Dusty Paul
STRENGTH & CONDITIONING
Coach Dusty Paul has been a member of the SSH Staff since its founding in 2018. Dusty is an Exercise Physiologist and Personal Trainer. Coach Dusty works primarily with SSH Roadrunner Athletes and handles all off-ice performance enhancement during SSH Develpment Programs.
Dusty played Division 3 Hockey at Buffalo State & SUNY-Canton, where he was a National Champion in 2000 with the Kangaroos. When Dusty is not in the gym providing a better quality of life to his clients he can be found hiking, kayaking or spenging time with his three children Dustin, Layla & Luc.
