SpeedSkills Hockey (SSH) was founded on Coach Mike Radja's core principle that confidence is everything. The bulk of the SSH curriculum is centered around teaching the fundamentals of skating and puck control. Coach Mike exposes players to a wide range of diverse techniques when practiced with purpose, focus and correction will lead to advanced skill acquisitions. This is achieved by structuring skates as "the player vs the drill" and also relaying to the players the when and the why of how to apply the skill in a game. Being a well versed skater creates the time and space to employ the skills they practice day in and out.
Mike's background and expertise extends from his expansive playing career from youth to pro. As a standout player at the University of New Hampshire (UNH) he garnered NCAA 1st Team All-American Status his senior season. This set the table for him to play 9 years of professional hockey in the AHL, ECHL and overseas in Finland, Germany, Japan, Korea, and the United Kingdom.
"First and foremost my job is to be that of a mentor to the kids. Every kid is different. It is my job to get to know them as players and more importantly as individuals and figure out how I can accelerate their growth and development as hockey players and as people. Hockey shaped my life for the better, I want to pass that experience, knowledge and passion on to all the kids I work with." - Coach Mike
